Hack Attack Baseball Pitching Machine Review

Having a baseball pitching machine that not only throws consistent balls in a controlled manor that challenges players, but can also throw various different pitches at a speed that mimics a real game pitcher is pretty hard to come by.

I mean, there are a thousand-and-one baseball pitching machines on the market at the minute, from the really cheap right through to the really expensive.

How do you know what pitching machine can take your players game to the next level?

Enter the Hack Attack Baseball Pitching Machine.

While we’ll get to the nitty-gritty details of the machine in a second – I’m going to say this right off the bat – I’m very impressed with what this machine has to offer.

That doesn’t mean the Hack Attack doesn’t come with its own set of unique flaws however, and as you’ll soon find out it’s not for everyone.

With that said though, let’s dig a little deeper into this monster of a machine.

Hack Attack Baseball Pitching Machine: So what’s on offer?

The Hack Attack Pitching Machine is a pitching machine that’s designed to mimic a real-game, higher level pitcher. It comes with a 3-wheel pitching mechanism (far more effective than the traditional 1 or 2 wheel design on other machines) that’s designed to pitch various different types of throws, and also has the added benefit of allowing the player to see the ball through the feeding, acceleration and release phase – just like a real pitcher.

That’s not all though. The Hack Attack Baseball Pitching Machine;

  • Is Incredibly Consistent
  • Has Very Good Accuracy Rate
  • Can be Easily Adjusted
  • Throws at High Speeds
  • Comes with Multiple Throws (Inc. Fastballs, Curveballs and knuckle balls)
  • Supports Your Players Reading of Balls
  • Is Durable as Heck!

Let’s dig into a few of those points above…

The Hack Attack Brings Game Realism…

Probably, by far the most impressive under-looked benefit the Hack Attacks brings is the ability to mimic real pitchers.

Like I mentioned briefly above, it comes with an ‘open’ design so your player can actually see the ball during the feeding and release phases. This is fantastic as it can help your player ready themselves, find their feet and let them know when to stride ultimately focus and read the incoming pitch – just like a real game.

Aside from the jaw-dropping design, the Hack Attack also comes with various different types of breaking pitches including; curveballs, fastballs, split fingers and sliders. What’s even more impressive is it doesn’t take much to change the throws. Simply flick the switch and you’re player is ready to start working with another throw.

Finally, this is by far one of quietist machines you’ll use – which is an added bonus as you’ll want as little background noise as possible when hitting.

The importance of making your training drills and session as realistic as possible should never, ever, be overlooked.

Proper preparation is the key to all players and their development – the Hack Attack aids and supports them brilliantly with this.

At the moment, there is no other machine on the market that delivers such a seamless experience – and this benefit alone can be over looked if you’re not careful.

The Hack Attack Brings Consistency…

There’s nothing really more frustrating than using a baseball pitching machine that throws inconsistent pitches in an uncontrolled way.

The Hack Attack has a fantastic consistency rate where throws are concerned. You’ll not only get the same ball pitched to same spot with incredible accuracy but you’ll be able to stand back and focus on what matters most – your players overall hitting and swing mechanics.

Finally, the Hack Attack is durable and very professional looking…

It not only acts the part of a real pitcher – but it’s probably better looking than your opponents too!

As I’ve already mentioned above, the Hack Attack comes with a unique 3-wheel design and its sleek looking features from the head to toe – this pitching machine really will do wonders for your players’ motivation and your own professional perception.

So, who is the Hack Attack actually for?

Here’s the real question. Who would actually need such monster of a machine?

While you certainly can lower the speed at which the machine throws at if you’re working with beginner or young baseball players – the Hack Attack shouldn’t be the machine you invest first.

If you’re looking for a baseball pitching machine that’s more suited to younger players then check out the Hack Attack Junior here.

The Hack Attack is perfectly suited for adults at an advanced level or youth players knocking on the door of the professional game.

Okay, so what’s the catch?

‘I mean, there’s a catch to everything, right?’

Firstly there’s the hefty price tag – it doesn’t come cheap and if budget is your main motivator here you’d probably better off going with something a little cheaper.

Secondly, there’s the rubbers caps problem. You might have some issues with the caps on the bottom of the legs, especially if you’re looking to pick it up and move it round. One reviewer has solved this problem by simply using a little bit of tape to keep everything in place. If however, you’re not too keen taping your new machine together you can pick up some replacement and additional rubber caps really cheap on Amazon.

Lastly, it’s not the most portable of pitching machines. Coming in at just over 25lbs, it’s reasonably heavy. It’s defiantly moveable though and can be transported with a little bit of forethought.

That said however, the additional weight is the very foundation of why this machine is so powerful. It’s the trade-off you must be willing to make…

Anything else you should know about the Hack Attack Baseball Pitching Machine?

Looking to use you own balls? You’re pretty much covered as long as your using regulation sized baseballs, dimpled practice balls, Wiffle balls and all other softer, practice balls.

Tip: Having good quality balls to hand will be key to breaking the 100MPH mark 😉

It’s also worth noting there isn’t much to think about in regards to assembly – which is quite nice. Once your baby arrives, all you got to do is unpack it, put the pieces together and set it in the position you want to use it from.

It’s worth checking it out first, having a few hits yourself before you introduce it to any of your players – but, I didn’t really have to remind you of that did I?

Overall Summary…

Overall, I think it’s fair to say the Hack Attack is very impressive piece of machinery that takes pitching machines to whole new level.

With its beautiful and visible design so you can the whole feeding process right through to the consistency, accuracy and variation of the ‘throws’ – the Hack Attack has it all.

But it’s well worth noting that while this baseball machine comes in as probably the finest, most powerful and realistic pitching machine on the market – it’ll be overkill if you’re coaching younger and beginner players.

If however you coach high level players knocking on the door of the professional game (or players’ already there) then the Hack Attack is worth a serious consideration.

With all the features and unique benefits this monster brings, it does come with a hefty price tag.

At some point, you’re going to have to take a long hard look at your coaching, the level both you and your players are at and more importantly where you want to take them.

Only then will you be able to make decision on whether or not to go ahead with buying one.

To end it all off I’ll leave you with a quick quote from St Jerome…

‘Good, better, best. Never let it rest. ‘Til your good is better and your better is best’

All the best,

  • Coach
