TeamSnap Software Review: The Hassle-Free Way to Manage Your Team
App & Desktop Team Management Software
When looking into the best coaching software available for teams and coaches I needed something that ticked a few boxes;
- It needed to be easy to use
- It needed to have additional features if needed (upgrading abilities)
- Finally, it needed to address all the main concerns when running a sports team or club.
After countless hours of research and comparisons I decided that TeamSnap was the best option I could find that not only ticked all those boxes but also came with a few other additional benefits too.
Like all products though, it isn’t perfect and I’ll address that below.
Side Note: I understand other people associated with clubs and teams such as parents are using TeamSnap to its full capabilities and I’ve got some great feedback from some of these people. But in the name of clarity, this review will primarily focus on coaches, managers and others responsible for the day-to-day management of your team.
First thing’s first – You became a coach so you could…coach! Instead, you find yourself spending most of your time off of the field on paperwork, emails and coordinating team business.
It cuts into your practice time and your own free time. Information falls through the cracks which causes confusion, frustrated parents and wasted energy. I get it, I’ve been there, got the t-shirt and worn it several times!
Want a better way?
TeamSnap allows you to say goodbye to the hassle of managing a team and hello to organization with ease. It’s been rated the #1 online management tool for sports teams and groups. And, if you’re fortunate enough to have a team parent helping you, TeamSnap will keep you both organized and on the same page.
Here’s a quick low-down of what TeamSnap can do for you.
A top feature of TeamSnap is the ability to manage scheduling for your group. When you became a coach, you probably didn’t get a guidebook on how to direct a team. TeamSnap has done the work for you! Who needs piles of paper and manual files? With TeamSnap, all the important info is on your smartphone, not that old dusty clipboard.
It’s designed to maximize efficiency so you can spend more time doing what you love – coaching.
- Coordinate team schedule on smartphone app or website
- Update and edit event details: Date, Arrival Time, Opponent, Location and Game Results
- Get real-time updates and changes
- View as a list or in calendar
- Coordinate other events like fundraisers and team building
To be an effective team, everyone needs to be in the loop. TeamSnap gives you multiple ways to communicate quickly and easily with players, parents and other coaches. This takes care of that annoying question: when is our next practice?
- TeamSnap Messaging gives you three ways to quickly communicate: email, text, and a private message board
- TeamSnap Live allows you to chat in real time, give live updates and scores, and allows coaches and parents to convey urgent info
- Share files with all members – documents, policies, agendas, etc.
No more handing out paper rosters and contact info. TeamSnap brings your roster into the 21st century.
- Give your parents the control to update their own child’s profile info: Contact info, Jersey #, Position, etc.
- Link photos to each player
- Customize your own categories that pertain to your specific team
Don’t be left in the lurch when players don’t show up for a game. Always know who is available with this easy-to-use feature.
- Send out invitations for each game or event
- Players indicate whether or not they will attend
- Track attendance
Save your sanity and let TeamSnap keep track of the team finances. No more checks and cash getting lost in your pockets.
- Online payment process can be linked to PayPal

Coaching shouldn’t be all work and no fun. These cool TeamSnap features will bring your team together. (Soccer Moms and Dads love this stuff!)

Throughout all my initial research the biggest issue comes with the price. There are 4 options (all prices are pay monthly);
- Free (with limited features)
Now while all these look, on the surface reasonable prices for something that could save you a huge amount stress, back and forward conversations and a boat load of time it’s worth noting that there are other TeamSnap alternatives on market that are cheaper and have some additional features that TeamSnap platform doesn’t offer.
For example TeamStuff offer two different ‘price-points’ one for free and one that costs AUD$8 per year.
Now while TeamStuff offer all the basic features as TeamSnap – you’ll typically find TeamSnap tends to be easier to navigate, comes with a better design and has a bigger user database which means they’d likely be updating their platform on a more consistent basis.
However, that said, I’m not knocking TeamStuff what so ever, from what I can see they too have built a great platform for an even better price. So, if budget is your main concern you may want to check them out.
Of course, there are other alternatives on the market at the moment that offer additional benefits at different price points. The question really becomes what do you need from your ‘team management’ software?
What would make your life easier? What features would prevent any awkward conversations with parents?
Once you’ve got an idea of what those answers would look like to those questions, only then will you be able to truly know what software would suit you best.
Overall I think TeamSnap is an unbelievable piece of software and the guys over at TeamSnap ‘HQ’ obviously understand to the last minor detail what it’s like to management a club, team and all the baggage that comes with it. The result of that is a beautiful piece of software that can not only be managed by coaches and managers but used by parents and others associated with your club.
While there are plenty of alternatives out there, I found that TeamSnap is fantastic at solving all the problems that comes with managing a grassroots sports team.
Most coaches are volunteering their time (if you get paid – good for you!) and anything that allows you to not only save time but use your time efficiently is a cool thing. TeamSnap is a user-friendly tool that replaces old-fashioned ways of managing and coordinating with today’s go-to technology.
